Our mobile strategy increased in-store traffic (and big-ticket purchases) for a national retail brand.

A WEDDING DRESS is a deeply personal choice — and one that deserves the help of a highly personalized app. For David’s Bridal, Heady conceived and created “The Dress Finder,” a recommendation algorithm helping brides narrow down the perfect style of dress and locate it a store near them. Our product was as popular among users as it was profitable for the company, helping leverage its retail footprint.

We strategically harnessed brick-and-mortar.

Mobile and physical retail are typically seen as competitors. Heady proved to David’s Bridal that they can be complements, with the right approach.

The Dress Finder combined the best parts of mobile and physical shopping — showing brides a huge variety of choices, and making it easier to try on a favorite one in-person. Brides on our app first took a quiz about their body type, preferred cut, and materials. Our algorithm then recommended dresses that fit their criteria, and directed them to the nearest stores where they were located. The system put high-value customers where they were served best.

We tailored content to a highly engaged, short-term user.

Brides are very engaged in dress research, but only for a limited period of time. To take advantage of this turnover, Heady built a contextual content feed with relevant and seasonal content.

We modernized the technology behind the app.

When Heady first began working on David’s Bridal, the company was using an outdated scraping technology which pulled data from its website. We built a native mobile API, decreasing load time and making its infrastructure more robust.
